April Testing brings May Resting?

Lori Smith helps with 3rd grade testing

Well…I don’t know if we’ll see much rest in May but it IS time for April testing. Every April since our first year of ministry here in Mexico (April 2005), we’ve coordinated Stanford Achievement Testing with a number of homeschooling missionary families in this area of the country. Puebla Christian School (PCS) gives this test to their student body and graciously procures tests for homeschoolers as well and entrusts them to us.

Last week we tested the Topp family (4 students) here in our home. The Topps live in Ciudad Azteca on the north side of Mexico City. In other years they traveled to Puebla and had their children take the testing alongside the students at PCS. However, this year PCS has no space for extra students and the Topps needed to test elsewhere.

We also tested a number of students from Querétaro plus our own two boys last week. The total number of students we tested last week was 11. Since the Topp family totaled 4 of these 11 and Cameron and Dayton totaled 2 of these 11, how many students from Querétaro were tested last week? (oops…administering the 2nd grade Math test is affecting my writing!)

This week we’re testing 5 more students (from 2nd to 10th grade) and with the help of a few of the moms experienced in proctoring the tests, 7 more students will be testing without our assistance. This is a blessing to us and will save us a couple of round trips to Querétaro (70+ miles each r/t).

So, since we tested 11 students last week and are testing 5 more students in our home this week, plus 7 more students are testing this week apart from our assistance, how many students will be tested in all? (oops…there I go again!)

Pray with us that all the testing will be completed within our 2 week time frame, the kids will do their best and we’ll survive the schedule.
