Mexico Independence Day

Bethie made this lovely cake for the church party last night. Not one piece came home!

There’s always some cuties like this one dressed up in traditional Mexican dresses (except this dress looks Oriental to me…of course…she’s still cute!)

Mom and Yolanda were nearly identical so they claimed to be “hermanas” (sisters). Everyone had a good laugh out of these “identical twins.”

Bethie and Linda wore enough green, white and red to make a human flag so they were in the competition too.

The whole group of “contestants.” Ironically, Victor brought some Otomi indigenous families down from near Yospi (45 min. up the mountains) and the lady wearing yellow and green won the costume competition…and she was the only one (aside from the little boys) who was wearing her normal clothes! She won a book. (We’re doubtful she can read but that was the only prize we had for the competition!)
