(We get a few complaints now and then that Bethie doesn’t write her own blog or do her own Facebook. Can’t get her to do it, but I snagged these lines from an informal email she wrote to family a couple days ago…hee-hee…wait till she finds out I posted it here! You can pray for me! LOL)
We had a ladies’ retreat up at camp last week. Mom wrote about it on her blog. They assigned ladies different cabins so they didn’t all bunch up in their own church groups. It was neat to get to know some other people.
Everybody “knows” me as “Ken Hanna’s daughter” or “Beth Hanna’s daughter” depending on how old of a Christian they are. The hard part is for me to figure out who they are and how they fit into the mass of ladies.
The group from Irapuato was really neat. The ladies were so excited about ministry and talked for a long time about a kids’ club they’ve been doing for the poor kids in their town (sort of like an AWANA in that it goes all year). These kids are rough — covered in mugre (filth) and lice and bruises and…. One lady was telling us how they take them home after the club and “home” is often a bar where their mom “works.”
We did this craft at the retreat making little angels out of yarn. It was really easy. The Irapuato ladies’ got all excited. They decided to have a tea and invite all the mothers of their club kids for a tea and make the angels as a craft. It was cool to watch them make plans. They even decided on a date and started parceling out jobs!
Blanca Colorado was our speaker. It was really really good! I learned a LOT.
