Just Arrived

It doesn’t get much better than this. Fresh roasted coffee beans from Antigua and Huehuetenango in Guatemala. If I could email or fax you the luscious aroma emanating from these two bags, I would certainly do it!

A caffeinated-java juice hug to Bryan and Lori for bringing this back with them from their recent trip to visit her missionary parents down there!

  1. Looks absolutely delicious!!!! I’ve been buying Garat brand coffee sold at Walmart here, not sure where it’s from, but it’s pretty good! Is it hard to get good whole bean coffee there, or is it just up north here?

  2. it’s hard to find good coffee here too. Garat is one brand that some like. I’ve just tried some Parroquia and it is good…a bit acidic but smooth. I’ve never seen it come in bean form and in fact, I’ve only seen it at SAMs. It’s a bit more expensive, $120 pesos for a kilo at SAM’s but that’s only about $4 a pound maybe. Not too bad. I only drink about 2 cups a day so it lasts a long time. Most if not all Mexican coffee comes from Veracruz, Oaxaca or Chiapas. Garat and Parroquia come from Veracruz. I sometimes buy beans in downtown Mexico City from La Habana. It’s off Parque Alameda a few blocks…and about 2 to 3 blocks from the Ciudadela. It’s Cuban restaurant…they roast their own beans (Veracruzano). I get their American roast. I rarely get there. I have enough coffee now to take me to summer it looks like since I also got a large bag for Christmas from a relative. I’m set!

  3. Hmmm…interesting. I figured that the coffee must come from down south where it’s more of the tropics, but didn’t know exactly where. I bought some Garat decaf beans because sometimes visitors ask for it…I tried some tonight and it’s pretty good, too! 🙂 We drink a lot of coffee here, and with company, so we go through it quickly! I have not shopped much at Sam’s or City Club, although I could go with someone who has a card. The coffees you mentioned sound yummy! 🙂
