A New Milestone

Our library has way more than 5,000 books but just to report here that officially, we’ve topped 5,000 and reached 5,089 on our online catalog! Woo-hoo! Time for a reading party! (we just received a few more boxes of used books and videos yesterday to add to our boxes still awaiting input…back to work!)

Thanks to Sarah our local missionary intern who has been helping us once a week the last couple weeks with entering the last few hundred into the system!

  2. sure…the library is open and you can keep them for a long time. How long do you think it will take for ya’ll to drive from Prague to get here? ha-ha…well…you never know, you might come to Mexico for some reason!

  3. It kind of makes my head hurt to think of cataloging all those books. We don’t have near that many, but sometimes it FEELS like 5000!

I’d love to come and visit you all. Then I’d say that a few years of a borrow would work for me! :)Happy cataloging!

  5. the nice thing about LibraryThing is that we pretty much only enter the ISBN number or the Library of Congress Number or just a quick Title search and all the info comes up from any number of databases that are accessed. We rarely enter more than the ISBN number and get a page or two or more of information automatically entered for us. That is the wonderful aspect of using this. It took us about 2 years to get 3-4K books entered in a library catalog program we were using before on our local computer. All these 5,000+ books have been entered in probably less than 40 hours worth of work. That would have taken hundreds of hours and we would not have had much info on each book like we do know. We love using LibraryThing!
