Go West (not so) Young Man…T-Day Is Here!

T(rip)-Day is Here!  After months of planning, tomorrow morning we drive to Texas for a 7 week home assignment out West.  We’ve never traveled West before but we have some ministry partners out there and we’re finally going to go out and see them.

We’ll also have some great family times with a week of retreat in a lovely mountain home provided for our use.  We’ll see many famous and spectacular vistas which I hope to photograph and post here on the blog.  There are too many places along the route to mention but I’ll try to share the experiences with you right here.

We have packed our homeschooling curriculum and the boys will study along the way, but I hope the best learning comes from the many sights we’ll come across.  This should become one gigantic school field trip!  YEAH!

Without a doubt we appreciate all those who are supporting us and we want to touch base with as many of them as possible when the opportunity arises.  In one case, I am pretty sure we haven’t connected in person since we both graduated from college in 1989.  That’s over 20 years ago!  We have ministry partners in Texas, Colorado, Washington and California that we’ll be visiting.  The mileage will be impressive and we hope to be back home here by around October 6th.

This is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event for all of us and we’re so looking forward to the experiences we’re about to encounter.

PLEASE pray with us that this trip will be used by God to edify others, encourage and refresh us, and to glorify Him.  PLEASE pray for our safety in traveling, the car to run well, the kids to ride well, the parents to survive well ;-), and for our health to continue to be well.  As always with these trips, we are somewhat apprehensive at the 625 mile segment to the border.  It is a long haul and with the ongoing drug war, the propensity for corrupt police, and the many road hazards (among other things) there are always potential problems that may lie ahead of us.  However, God is before, behind, beside and inside us…may we find our strength, confidence and protection only in Him.

Thanks for praying…and stay tuned for our GWnsYM updates (see the title of this post if you haven’t figured out the acronym).
