Once every quarter, our co-worker Tim, and his family attend the original Bible church across town. The church has no full-time pastor and the leaders divide up teaching responsibilities for Sundays. Tim agreed to preach there once a quarter as a way to stay in touch with that congregation and more importantly, to give the lay leaders a break.
This leaves us without our normal music leader for our small house church group. With technology, this is not a huge problem. I found a song that our group knows on YouTube and the words are on the video. Problem solved! Unfortunately, my preparations for teaching the lesson took much longer than I anticipated so I was scrambling this morning to find a usable video/song on YouTube that I could download and project.
I was blessed by this because I came across a music group that I had not heard of before (that is not a rare event for me!). The group is called “Blest” and while I was sleeping they have won numerous awards over the past 5 to 10 years, including Dove awards and nominations for Latin Grammy Awards, etc. I am not really a fan of “CCM” or whatever musical fads are popular. I don’t listen to a lot of music and somewhere along the line I think most of that stuff was derailed from my interest in the 1990s. I guess I’m getting old or apathetic or something.
Anyway, all that to say I really enjoyed this small discovery and if you enjoy Spanish Christian music, you may enjoy this. You probably already have. I’m usually the one to arrive at the end of the party…without feeling bad about it either!
Below are two songs by Blest. They did not produce these homemade videos but you might be blessed by them too. We sang the video at the bottom of the page together in our house church today. Everyone liked it. Kristin even clapped and said, “That was beautiful!” Even 4 year-old Justin said, “That was a beautiful song.” Well…all right then!
