Saturday marked the conclusion to the first quarterly sessions at the community center. I only helped with one late evening conversation class due to schedule conflicts. Aside from my English conversation class, there were several levels of English classes (ESL), a basketball class for kids, a computation class for kids, and music lessons and family counseling were offered.
Our co-worker, Tim O’Brien, did a great job with all these classes and keeping up with a tough schedule. We could use more help if anyone is interested in serving at the community center here in San Juan del Río! We continue building relational foundations for sharing the Gospel. It’s a long process but we trust this effort will reap opportunities to share God’s love both in word as it has already in deed.
The next batch of classes will begin after the two week Easter break that all schools take here in Mexico. It looks like I’ll be expanding my role now that my schedule conflicts have cleared up. Tim and I will meet this week to go over the changes. It looks like I will take on two evening classes on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays but we’ll sort it all out in a couple days.
Here are some pics of the graduation. About 50 people attended which is the best turnout so far for such an event. Unfortunately, our upper level English students generally work on Saturdays and none of them made it. Maybe next time!
