Gearing Up

Now that we’re past the 2 weeks of “Semana Santa” (Holy Week) vacation time, the community center is set to resume programs tonight with several ESL classes being offered.  I’ll be teaching 2 mainly grammar classes and also 2 conversation classes.

My schedule has churned a bit this year and so with more time available mid-week, I’m filling Tuesday evenings with two ESL classes, a few hours of being available at the community center on Wednesday mornings, a Bible study Wednesday afternoon, and then two more ESL classes on Wednesday evenings.  I still have a couple of schedule holes to fill, but we’ll see how the community center classes go.  I am hoping to find a few individual Bible studies to teach for other days.  Saturdays and Sundays are filled with a weekly translation project, preparing for Sunday morning studies, and of course, the Sunday house church study, fellowship time, and an ongoing premarital counseling session.  I still am working with our two boys in their English homeschooling classes.

Beth continues carrying the main part of homeschooling our boys and then helps with others in science, the library, and at times other subjects when needs arise.  She also works alongside me with the Wednesday Bible study and the premarital counseling and the Sunday morning kids lessons.  She cooks most of our meals, especially straining to find ways to work with my quirky diet that seems to get quirkier as the weeks go by.  She keeps the laundry cycling through from the baskets to the machines and back to the drawers/closets and is a never-ending cycle as you know.

Anyway, those are the main things we’re working on at the moment.  There are always things that come up routinely that don’t fit into any of those categories but that’s the flavor of things here.

The summer craziness is only about 9 weeks away.  We’ll transition rapidly from routine to travel, visits, presentations, retreats, etc. including about 7,000 miles in the car over about 7 weeks.  No one here is excited about the miles but I’m sure we’ll be blessed by the people we’ll be with, the experiences along the way, and the things God will teach us.

Appreciate your prayers for our ministry and the lives the Lord puts into our path.  The journey continues.

Here we go….
