Stuff That Grows

Caught this scene on my walk to the ATM for some “pesitos.”  One thing many of our guests comment on is the unique shape of the trees in some parts of our town.  Notwithstanding all the people around who probably thought it strange that someone would take a photo of something so mundane as a tree being trimmed, I stood on the street and took it anyway…just for you!

Reminds me of Bethie being laughed about by the grocery boys in Cuernavaca 8 years ago who spotted her taking a photo of the Day of the Dead food display there.  They were embarrassed when she made a little joke in Spanish about it and they then realized the gringa had understood them!

And then there are the roses.  How do you NOT buy 2 dozen roses when the man on the walking street is selling them for $25 pesos a dozen?!?  (just less than $2 a dozen!)

Bethie put some of the roses in with some other flowers we bought on Sunday afternoon.  You can never buy too many when they’re so inexpensive.  She knows I probably won’t buy them in the USA at the prices usually seen there, so I have to make up for it here!

Aw, c’mon, you don’t want to pay $40 a dozen for roses – Chesterton prices?

Those trees are pretty cool! I wish they would cut the like that here in El Paso! Usually they just hack EVERYTHING off so the tree ends up with a bunch of bare nubs!
