(this arrived in my Inbox this morning and it’s worth passing along)
Dr. Kenneth Boa is my Dad’s good friend and favorite theologian. Dr. Boa is a graduate of Case Institute of Technology, holds a Master of Divinity from Dallas Theological Seminary as well as earning a doctorate from New York University and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Oxford, University, Oxford, England. He is engaged in a life-ministry of relational evangelism and discipleship, teaching, writing, and speaking and is President of Reflections Ministries. I am pleased to share that Dr. Boa dedicated his book “The Perfect Leader” to my parents. Recently, he offered some personal Beatitudes that I pass on in the hope you will write out as your own for a personal blueprint of foundational values for living life as The Lord would have it.
I am most blessed when:
I live each moment as though I am in desperate need of God’s grace, for in that moment I increased my membership in the kingdom of God.
I make no claim on anything or anyone, for in that moment God lays claim to more of my heart.
I live each moment in the quiet pose of a servant for in that moment I behave like an heir apparent.
I forget about blame and focus on love, for in that moment I am aware that God is doing the same for me.
I live each moment with a voracious appetite for pleasing God, for in that moment my soul is content.
I live each moment with a holy, free heart for in that moment I get a fresh glimpse of God himself.
I look for ways to knock down barriers and build bridges, because in that moment my Father goes about bragging about our relationship.
I mimic my Lord’s behavior in suffering without cause, for in that moment heaven gets a little closer and a little clearer and, finally, I live each day willingly absorbing every stinging curse hurled at me, simply because I freely admit to knowing God. It gives me another opportunity to be joyful, knowing that my heavenly Father is paying attention and will someday make it all worthwhile.
Blessings,
