For us it is a rare event to receive a visit from a ministry partner. This weekend brought us one of those special visits.
Steve Forry is a friend we met when we were teaching in Honduras back about 15 years ago. He was fresh out of high school and before he enrolled in an engineering program, he wanted to experience a 6 month short-term mission ministering at our Christian school, Academia Los Pinares. Providentially, he was assigned to the 6th grade classes (as an aide) and was so helpful to Bethie and me as we team-taught the 6th grade that year.
Our friendship that started that year has continued ever since and we were blessed to stay with them for nearly an entire week last fall as we commuted to Beth’s sister’s home about an hour away.
Steve is an engineer, product salesman in the oil industry and had a couple of meetings in Mexico City late in the week. On Friday, he took a bus out to San Juan del Rio and we spent a brief day and a half showing him around, enjoying Mexican food, and meeting as many of our teammates that we could.
Saturday, I took Steve up to our team leader’s ranch and we talked and took a look around the property and also the grounds of Campamento Koinonia just down the dirt road.
I took a few pics for the benefit of his wife and kids who were unable to join him on this short trip south of the border. We hope they’ll come visit as a family some time soon!
