The dolls are typical handiwork of the Otomi ethnic group and they are prominent in this region. Not far from here one can see ladies and girls dressed just like this (or pretty close)!
We purchased the corn husk oil painting in Queretaro (the artist is not Otomi) last week for $150 pesos. The two dolls in Tequisquiapan yesterday for $50 pesos for the two (hand-made by an Otomi woman, of course). Total of $200 pesos at my last exchange rate is about $15 USD. I go for lovely, cheap art. Isn’t this great?!?
