30 Years Later…

I met Kim (left) and Kathy (right) McMasters way back in our first year or two in Florida at our small Grace Bible Church.  None of us really could remember exactly when that was or just how long we were at the same church together, but we’re pretty sure we haven’t seen each other since about 1982 or 1983.

In recent years, we became friends on Facebook and today we enjoyed lunch together.  Kathy and her husband Peter drove 3 hours from the west coast of FL to hear my 15 minute ministry update that I gave at my parents’ church.  They kindly treated us to lunch and then they drove the 3 hours back to their home.  I have to admit, they really went the extra mile (and a bunch more!) to make this reunion happen.  It was a memorable day and a really nice reminder that our family in Christ is one that encompasses all of our best relationships and is the only family that really lasts forever.

Kathy’s sister, Kim, came down from Dayton, TN with her son to visit her family.  That includes her parents who are missionaries with New Tribes Mission and who live there in Sanford, FL at the headquarters of that agency.  They joined us for lunch too as did my sister, Dawn.  Small world…big family.

I can’t imagine life without Christ and the joy and happiness of being together as family with those who share in the Spirit of God…even after 30 years.
