We enjoyed a small annual team retreat Friday and into today. We went to our favorite water resort about 90 minutes from here. It’s a little rustic…the toilets don’t have seats (common in Mexico, although not so common at hotels), the showers don’t have hot water (but the local water is thermal so it’s bearable), and the new picnic tables they’re installing don’t have benches (you can rent plastic chairs). Haha…well…it’s cheap and we like the thermal water and we like cheap! The warm water was relaxing, the time of fellowship was sweet, and the weather was lovely.
We’d never stayed on a Friday night before which could be a loud and rowdy night, but all was fairly quiet until about 1 a.m. when a belligerent, drunk man broke one of the windows of the room in which one of our families was staying! Most of us were startled awake to the sound of what I thought must have been the entire collection of plates in the restaurant kitchen being dropped onto the floor! Praise God that no one inside the room was injured as the glass shattered all over the bed of one of the kids sleeping just on the other side of the window. He was totally protected by the blanket and comforter and no one inside the room suffered even a scratch. Don’t know about the drunk but he and his companions were forced to leave the hotel. It took hotel workers about 20 minutes to sweep up all of the glass. It was a huge mess. Anyway, that was an exciting experience to add to our memories of this place!
I didn’t even think to take a photo while we were swimming but I did get one of our short game night. We took an interesting detour on the way home to see a new area not far from our home but one we’ve never seen before. It was pretty. We need to do some more exploring in the area.
