Prayer Request

Here we are in December 2014 already.  The time just keeps flying by in this life, doesn’t it?

We’re looking at a busy couple of weeks here with the end of my current seminary class (I have some reading and a final exam due by Monday night).  We have a team Christmas gathering/meeting next Tuesday near Mexico City.  We have a couple of Christmas dinners, one for church leaders and one for our little house church, and possibly another one at the established church here in San Juan.  Oh and another dinner in our neighborhood this Saturday.  So much for prayer and fasting.

We’re making our lists!  Not for ourselves but for those we minister to in our house church, the poor lady that does a few hours’ house cleaning for us each week, and a few others who are in need.  We appreciate your personal gifts for Christmas.  We hope you won’t be offended if we spend much of those on people with significant needs.  No doubt we’ll be doing that regardless of whether we receive any gifts or not.  (Let us know if you really don’t want us to use your gifts that way because otherwise, we almost certainly will, at least until we cover everyone.)

Some just aren’t making it in this economy and in their life situations, and we only have so much time in this life and world to minister to others in Jesus’ name.  How can we live with much while believers around us are struggling to eat and clothe their families?  We don’t intend to overdo it, but we definitely want to put together some gifts of basic supplies and probably a few small nice things too.  Not sure just what yet or what we’re going to budget.  A couple/few hundred dollars for sure.   We may not have time to really begin working on this for another week or so.

Speaking of the serious things of life, I’d appreciate your prayers for my parents, Art and Joeann.  Dad has been doing very well in recent weeks, but his health took a significant turn in the past couple days.  He was taken by ambulance to the local hospital last evening.  I’ve not heard much news yet, but it sounds like he’s not doing well at all, doing worse today than yesterday.  From piecing the little bits of info I’ve gotten so far, it does sound like his heart is failing again.  Mom is really in need of prayer as I think she’s exhausted and was not ready for an emotional hit to her life right now.

I haven’t had a chance to talk to her, and I’m not sure when she’ll be able to talk.  I’ve got 4 siblings in the States who are all taking some role in things right now, so I don’t want to add weight to the situation by forcing added conversation on Mom.  She needs some rest.

Thanks for your prayers, and may the Lord find us faithful!
