Someone graciously wrote me an email yesterday to let me know that she did not know whether we had made it safely to the USA or not. I had promised to keep updates flowing here on the blog and as you may have noticed (as she did!), that I have NOT come through on that end of the bargain.
My sincere apologies! I meant to get some posts up here as we traveled, but I just hadn’t been able to keep it on my radar. The past week has been one very full week. I don’t think that will change in the coming weeks, but I’ll just have to do better with posting. I haven’t even had a chance to take any pictures to provide any visual interest here, but later today we plan to visit a nature boardwalk around Ponce Inlet over at New Smyrna Beach, FL so we’ll see if I can get some good shots and post them here.
Yes, we did arrive safely to the USA. Thanks for praying. We’d already traveled about 2,000 miles in the first 9 days which has brought us to my mother’s home in DeLand, FL. While our travel through Mexico was smooth, uneventful and safe, ironically, we drove right past the Waco, TX restaurant that just two days ago was the scene of a violent biker shootout which left 9 dead and about twice that number wounded. I’m glad to say we drove past that deadly parking lot exactly one week before it happened. Another reminder that we plan our course, but the Lord determines our steps (Prov. 16:9).
We have two more days here in Florida, before we head to upstate SC and further north. I’ve completed my first week of assignments in my latest 7 week course. There’s no time to lose, I need to get reading for week 2 ASAP!
Thanks again for your prayers! I will do my best to keep updates flowing here as I’m able! Check back by tomorrow as I hope to get some pictures that I can post here. We should see some nice scenery.
