Off the Beaten Track

After nearly 2 months in Dallas, TX, the sleep doctor and cardiologist have both given me the green light for awhile. I will need to see the sleep doctor once more in 2 months, so we’ll be back in Dallas in early September for that appointment before heading back to Mexico. The cardiologist will see me again in late December, so it looks like Christmas will be in Dallas this year. That works out well because Cameron has been planning to head to Dallas for Christmas, so we’ll get to see him after his first semester which will be good for his parents and probably for him too.

We’ve driven about 850 miles the last two days and are staying with my oldest brother in New Albany, IN for a few days (my other brother is driving up from South Carolina to spend a couple days up here too). Along the drive today, I decided we could take a short detour in southern Indiana to drive by one of the three childhood homes I had here in this state. When I was 6 to 8 years old, we lived in an old house in Troy, Indiana.

Our detour took us through a small town with a Catholic seminary/monastery. It’s called St. Meinrad Archabbey. I can’t say I know much about it, but I think it is a Benedictine monastery. The architecture drew us in to the property to take a few pics. It was really a beautiful place.
