Another Trip! (around the sun)

Today is known as “Day of the Dead” here in Mexico. I’ve shared about this religious tradition in the past, and I have nothing new to add to it. However, the date is also significant to me for another reason: I’ve been alive on this earth for another year…my 52nd trip around the sun has just commenced. Yes, my birthday falls on the Day of the Dead. Somehow I think that’s fitting. Another birthday, another year of life, another year of closing in on death, which for me is not death at all because while my body will eventually be fully clothed in mortality, my soul which is immortal will simply go on living, except in a better place and with better company! How can I not look forward to seeing the face of my Savior and Lord? Due to a shortened school schedule because of an early dismissal for the Jr/Sr High weekend retreat, I didn’t have any classes to teach today. I slept in. Can’t ask for a better start to a birthday! But Bethie had some classes to teach. I noticed on Facebook, that my students were celebrating my birthday without me! How nice! I don’t see a way to download the birthday songs from Facebook and then upload them here, and Bethie is now off on the retreat. I just noticed she only allowed me to view the videos, so you can’t see them on FB even if you’re friends with her. Sorry! I guess you’ll have to take my word for it that it happened. Oh well.
