Wings

We’ve been watching the hummingbirds all week here at the YMCA of the Rockies and I kept thinking I’d like to get my tripod set up and take a slow-motion video of a hummingbird. I never did get the tripod out, but when we noticed a hummingbird sipping the flowers again this evening, I pulled the camera out and tried to take the video without the tripod. It was smoother than I thought it would turn out and is a fun thing to watch.

Another hummingbird shows up if you watch it long enough. Fascinating. I think this one is a female and the newcomer is a male (judging by its extra colors). It may have been trying to impress her. That’s my guess.

Enjoy!

  1. Alan, this is very fascinating to watch. Great job! I’m coveting your slow motion mode.

Thanks Danny! Glad you enjoyed it. It’s always fun to try and see how it looks after taking it. I need to up the HD setting to see if the slo-mo comes in with better quality. it’s grainier than i’d like to see.
